Dear Members, We have some incredible news to share regarding our community regeneration plans for Campbeltown. We have officially been offered a development grant of £17,850 from the Scottish Land Fund for our project, "Our Town, Our Future: The Campbeltown Regeneration Initiative"! This is a massive milestone for our town and a huge step forward in bringing neglected local spaces back to life or preventing history repeating itself with some fantastic buildings being brought in to community ownership rather than falling in to the wrong hands!. As with any property acquisition, we have to remain agile and adapt to the fast-paced local market. Recently, 61-63 Longrow was sold to a private buyer. While it is a shame to miss out on that specific site, our team has moved quickly to shift our focus. We are thrilled to announce that our new target property under the funding is 97 Longrow, Campbeltown (Podunk). We want to be completely transparent about what this current funding means. This Stage 1 grant does not mean we own the building yet. This development grant is strictly a contribution to fund crucial feasibility and business planning, including building and valuation surveys. Completing this work is essential so that we can meet the requirements for the next stage of the application process (Stage 2), which is when we will actually apply for the funds to acquire the property. This process relies on our community-led dual structure working in perfect harmony: Diamond Vault Community Benefit Society (DVCBS): As the applicant and democratic guardian, the CBS will manage this development phase, oversee the independent surveys, and ultimately submit the Stage 2 application to hold 97 Longrow securely in community ownership. Kintyre Community Regeneration CIC: Once the property is successfully acquired, the CIC will step in as the operational engine to execute the physical refurbishment and handle the day-to-day management of the community spaces. A major requirement for our upcoming Stage 2 application is demonstrating robust community engagement, consultation, and support.
